A Passion-intense Color Mix!

I love Valentine's Day!

But, it's not just about the candy, flowers, and "love" for me.

It's the one time that I can use red AND pink as decor accents!

I know red is the color that evokes passion!

But for me, it's a

passion-intense color mix

when I have red AND pink together!

We all know what "they say"
about which color evokes a particular emotion!

An Ending, in Order to Begin! A Hobby! A Want!

Within a weeks timing, two very successful blogs that I follow, posted that they had made a decision to discontinue blogging.

Crap I've Made

Both authors/creators/owners had taken inventory of their life, and what they were placing as a priority, and realized that blogging (daily or weekly) was taking the majority of their time, talent, and emotion, but was not their number one priority. When they listed their priorities, family/relationships and the quest to live life to the fullest, ranked number 1. The question was, "If blogging was at the bottom of the list of priorities, why was it receiving the attention, detail and time that the top two priorities should receive?" Even if the blogs were income generating, the authors felt that the "job" was being the all-consuming focus, and not what was actually listed as the number 1-5 priorities.

Although my blog is not income generating, it has been a beautiful tool to entertain and express creative thoughts, build new relationships, gain insight to all sorts of ideas, develop design and style tastes, and push forward with a dream. However, I quickly realized that I was spending too much energy developing and pursuing a tool that was supposed to be "helpful" NOT consuming! I had to, also, take the risk to blog only when I absolutely had something very pressing, valuable, or fun to share. I learned that if the creative inspiration to share was not flowing with ease, I need not force a topic, or the misuse of valuable time.

My approach to posting is the very same as my approach to life, "move when, or as, the Holy spirit speaks"! In the meantime, enjoy the moment at hand in "real time" and with "real tangible life".

And, here's a quick glimpse of my latest finds, that I will "flip" or "use". (Another hobby/interest I play with-- thanks to Craigslist and flea markets.)

Then and Now! And, a little extra!

So I had fun watching movies over the past weekend! I thoroughly enjoy watching the Goldie-oldies (at least that's the fun term I've heard expressed)! I love taking in every bit of the dialogue, clothing, and decor of "then" (40's - 60's). Forgive my photography, but I took a screen shot of the ensemble on the right (then), and compared to the ensemble on the left (now)! Both are beautiful, classic and the 2012 chosen color. The only difference--that was the norm of appropriately dressing for everyday, while today we only dress when it's absolutely appropriate (which isn't always very often). The standard was so much higher back then. Some might argue that it's because, today, we are more relaxed and casual. But, I see a continued inner fashion fight on what is the truth in dressing respectful and appropriate, AND, being relaxed/casual. Fashion was at it's high, on an everyday basis, back then, and we ride a roller coaster of whether or not we keep it to a high, everyday, today. My choice, is to take every moment possible, and make it an appropriately "high" fashion moment!

And, here's a little something extra! Just throwing this out there for whatever reason! OK, the reason is--I really enjoy pinning, and I really love pink! One of my favorite Pinterest boards is Pink Crush Pink 'LUSH'. I love pink. It brings me a sense of joy, and excites the feminine heart in me. But, funny, I have not used it in my decor. And, I rarely wear it, unless it appears smart, sporty, or classic. But, I do LOVE it!

One Thing Leads to Another!

Seeing this movie logo image, brought back some very fond memories of my childhood, and, again, with my children's childhood. So, this weekend, while the weather outside is January cold and overcast, I'll be inside making memories, filled with laughter and tears, with a couple of good movies.

So seeing this..............

...............which led to opening a flood gate of fondness towards sitting in front of the TV with popcorn and family. That's where I plan to be!

Apparently, I'm just getting ahead of myself. Rule to live by -live in the present- just flew out the window. Because sometimes the future looks pretty good! xo

Go Back to The Beginning.......

we need not look any farther than ourselves.

Look within.

Or, face oneself.

And, many times,

that includes facing each other

(as in siblings, or other priority relationships).

An extremely valuable lesson

we were reminded of this year,

was

- no matter what, where, when, how, or why -

we love each other deeply

and will be there to face-off with the truth

and help each other grow, restore, and stay on track.

No matter how hard the times get,

when we let God take charge,

we find the truth, rest, and comfort in each other

and our own little families.

Goodbye 2011! Hello 2012!

And, so life gives us another "starting point", another chance to improve and "get it right". For most of us, New Year's is a rebirth and transitional point. We seem to really take inventory of ourselves when an ending, or closure, is inevitable. New Year's is the one true time that we are fully certain that there is a new beginning, or another chance given, just by a calendar day designated as January 1st.How much sweeter would life be if all of our endings could be so EASILY accepted as new beginnings?

Our transition from the old year to the new year is as natural as the beach waters bringing in and washing out the sand simultaneously!

I have SOOOOOOOOO many things I want to improve, add, or just stay focused on! My list could be extremely long, but I had to be realistic in what my actual focus is. The rest of my long list is continually added in to my daily routine.

Although my career, or employment, is at the top of my list, it is not the top five. It is a given that I must work to build my business. I am focused on work. Nevertheless, the most essential life/heart skills can become depleted if not tended. I choose to live my life with a "right" heart, and "right" attitude. It is a practice of virtues, and daily communion with the Holy Trinity, that keeps me "in check".

I truly believe life does NOT have to be perfect to be wonderful! I've been blessed to always find the beauty in every day. Please know, I am not perfect, but I see the perfection in life no matter how much pain, or joy!

It is no secret that God blessed me with sons. I believe I am fully responsible for these boys to make an impact on the world as men! I take my role very seriously! I believe in biblical teaching with extra emphasis on life respect, commonsense, manners, hard work, and strong ethics, to mold a GOD loving man! I believe a man should be emotionally responsible with himself and those in his life. A man, as well as any individual, needs responsibility and the trust (as you taught them) to handle it.

I've learned to quit saying, or thinking, "I can't" and replace it with "I will find a way. I will start today". Nothing is more defeating than defeating one's own will and purpose. I've learned, that each of us is our own worst enemy.

Above everything in life, LOVE is the most important! And, IT IS a sacrifice! BUT.........IT'S WORTH IT!

Humorously, in regards to ANY type of social media!!! I made a promise to myself that I would ENJOY social media and NOT let it RUN my life (as it is not a means, yet, for profit)! I have a love affair with all the different media's. And while it is such a beautiful means of creativity and cultivating cyber friendships, I MUST stay focused on the REAL and PRESENT! I have to trust that I have made lasting relationships that will not fade if I'm not available everyday! This is a really hard task, as this type of accessible fun is soooo addicting!!!!

Christmas Party Essentials!

Food, Drink, and Entertainment! Eat, Drink, and Be Merry! Seriously 'though, these are essentials: Planters Peanuts, coffee, and Christmas movies! ~~From the beginning of time~~, ok, from as far back as I can remember, Planters peanuts were in pretty dishes scattered throughout the entertainment space. At my parties, it's just a given, and is attached to childhood memories.

And, coffee was an essential for every gathering, no matter what time of day, or year. It's an essential today, and associates an element of warmth and hospitality. (I love the old percolator! To me, She's still a sign of beauty and grace!)

Last, choose the entertainment to enhance the party focus! The basic choices are endearingly the same. Not only should beautiful Christmas songs play in the background, but additonally have a set up for the children (and adults) to watch Christmas movies. At our home, we set up an outside movie station, decorated with Christmas lights, drink and snack set ups, and tables and chairs on our covered back porch!

Happy Week Before Christmas!

It's the dawn of another morning, the beginning of a new week-- the week before Christmas! It's crunch time, but in a joyous way!!! This past weekend, we hung the final lighting to illuminate our backyard and back-porch for our family Christmas party (the festivities and visiting take place both inside and out)! I am exhausted, but in a good way! Everyday until Christmas day, I will be continually placing the final touches around the home and preparing assorted desserts and dishes. Time is always limited due to work, but somehow everything gets done!

While at our children's Christmas breakfast, I spotted her (as I am a people/fashion watcher)! I was in admiration of her classic elegance. Plastic Never Looked So Good!

Remember the "old days" when grandmas or moms wouldn't remove the plastic off of the newly purchased sofa, lamp shades, etc? It was preventive measure to keep it looking nice, save it from dirt and stains, and sustain it's life because "money didn't grow on trees". And, then, what about using plastic or paper dinnerware, "because it saves on cleaning up", or "that way NO one has to do dishes"? (This was all a part of my world growing up! And, I can compassionate, reasonably, as to why these habits were practiced, even though we didn't think of re-cycling as part of the using of plastic.)

Today, with all the beautiful acrylic furniture pieces and dinnerware offered, moms and grandmas would've been in relaxed luxury heaven! The traditional housewife, homemaker, and working-woman, back then, would have been able to fashionably decorate, provide beautiful dinner settings, sustain the life of the housewares, while keeping within their budget, and not having to feel any fear, or shame, that their "wares" or "furniture" would be damaged from spills, breaks, stains, or out-datedness. Acrylic (recyclable, and made from recyclabled materials)--it's "a good thing"? Hmmm, maybe it's a great thing?

A friend sent this to me and warned me that I would need a box of tissues! I don't know what moved me more; this young man's story, his courage to seek to fulfill a dream, the love he has for his mother and brother, or the fact that he smiles and exudes a joyful and grateful heart regardless. This attitude, this disposition is more beautiful than any fashion or materially sought after possession. There is no amount of make-up, or cosmetic procedure that could enhance a more beautiful soul! Oh, to be this kind of a person!

I like random. Without being irresponsible or careless, random can work. I feel random is like spontaneity or unpredictability! I wish that every week would produce magnificent results, as easily as this kitchen makeover /Between Naps on the Porch. There are many makeovers to choose from as an example, but after a grueling past week, this one seemed ALL too simple, which again brought to realization that NOT EVERYTHING has to be a struggle.

And, even though there might be a struggle, I STILL give thanks! Simple thanks and gratitude..........Isn't that what motivates any one of us? What is it about riding a bike that invigorates and rejuvenates? For me, there are several reasons! I love the simplicity of a relaxing bike ride. I love feeling that both my mind and my body are being treated kindly and usefully. I love that a bike does not use any fuels other than muscle. I love that a bike denotes friendliness. And, I wouldn't mind if my bike was my mode of transportation, other than walking, most of the time. HOWEVER........................

Marriage is Elementary!

Relationships can be difficult, especially marriage! Those who know me, know that I continually say, "Love is easy. It's the people (we) who make it difficult ('cause we're difficult)." What do I mean by easy? There are wonderful fundamental ways of re-assuring that love remains love, because love is a doing word! We have reminders/rules for us to continually do things to show we love. All of these doing things evolve around respect, with manners. When I came across this "classroom rules" sign, I realized how it involves that very virtue. And, with that, I realized most of the love rules for marriage are elementary!

It's hot! No denying! Even the nights are uncomfortable, regardless of being inside with air conditioning! I can't think of anything but how to stay cool while conserving too! 'LUSH' Picks......!

I'm a little mixed up this week! It's been hectic! I've missed a post on one day, added two posts in to one on another day, and then repeated the combo posting again! Thursdays, I usually have my 'picks', but due to brain constraint (accompanied with time constraint), I am posting images of random things that I have attained, or that I keep in mind, to attain eventually! Or perhaps, the thought is just pure entertainment! Nevertheless..............

Without being 'over the top' frilly or feminine, I really love for all things to have prettiness, or pure beauty! When it comes to being a 'lady', there's so much to be said in being ladylike, graceful, and fresh, combined with strength, intelligence, and heart!
Although I haven't quite attained a closet-room/dressing room, I often dream of one. For some reason, I always revert back to Nanette Lepore's. It seems to have a touch of everything luxurious in just the right quantity. Not too much frou frou, just right!

I am always drawn to word images and wall art! This one really gets me, because sometimes it can BE me! Dare I say, the Italian side of me, I call "ranting", had to be reminded to stay quiet! Not everyone feels that a pair of antlers makes a great decorating accessory! But, I seem to live amongst men that hunt! So, any chance I get to blend the VERY masculine taste with my own womanly taste, I jump to it! There are so many different choices of decorative antlers, in various colors, these days. However, for the more classic statement, without being the real 'taxidermied' variety, these white resin deer antlers can do the trick!

Just thinkin'.............do you feel like Social Networks are now as cumbersome as several cell phones clipped to your belt? One for work, one for kids, one for unanimous, one for...........well, you get the picture. There's sooo many different networks to juggle in order to keep up with each connection. Phewh.........I'm tired just writing about it, much less actually keeping up virtually. Just thinkin'.......is there an easier way?

Here's to the search on the web being easier than the search on the street, and the connection on the web being more instant than the connection in person, and the chance to be whatever we want to be just by being on the web networking!

I love the web, wouldn't want to be without it! But, love poking fun at it's power, too! LOL! Makes ya think, right? Just thinkin'.......! xo

After all the heart-aching drama, these past few weeks(in the media), there seems to be proven substance in a quote that I continually stumble across............"we are as unhealthy as our secrets". While this subject could be discussed in depth, in the context of most unhealthy family relationships, it appears to weigh in as truth!

However, sometimes, we just have to find a bit of light-hearted humor in our family imperfections!

Just Thinkin'.....!

Just thinkin'...........about the style of the 1960s, the energy and excitement of the Jet Age. (And the new series 'Pan Am' this fall (Sept. 25) on abc.) So............

Just thinkin' about how the stewardesses had Star appeal! The stewardess had to fit certain criteria, and today that criteria is considered politically incorrect and offensive. In fact, we don't refer to them as 'stewardess' anymore. With all innocence, I wanted to fit the profile to become a stewardess, but didn't! I wanted to be beautiful, svelte, professional, worldly, and always having a big smile! I loved their uniforms, so figure flattering! They traveled everywhere, ever day! And, they captured the attention of just about every man! Yep, Star quality!

In this modern world, air travel represents the height of luxury and Pan Am is the biggest name in the business.

The planes are glamorous, the pilots are rock stars and the stewardesses are the most desirable women in the world.

Just thinkin'........that's really all changed today!

Just thinkin'.........what hasn't changed today...........thank God! Young boys (older ones too) needing to be adventurous! (I love that about boys!) And, that's where this precious pup- Gunner (that's his name given by the boys, of course)- comes in to this adventurous tail, I mean tale!

My youngest son was having a sleepover with his cousin the past few days. Needless to say, they have been inventive and adventurous little guys. Which leads to the highlight of my morning tale.

Before I leave for work, I kiss my kids goodbye and I visit with Gunner on the porch. This particular morning, I noticed something stashed in Gunner's collar. I reached down to remove what was a handwritten and folded note.............

and the note read....................

I guess I was supposed to answer by circling "yes" or "no", fold it, and place it back in Gunner's collar, in hopes that they would retrieve it(no pun intended)later. Too my tickled enjoyment, I almost did just that. However..........silly boys........they know I am on a time constraint to work, and they don't want to get up that early anyway!

We laughed about it later today! Silly adventurous boys!

Obsessing Over Obsessions!

It's nothing new! Everybody does it! And, what I think about is somewhat ordinary! However, everyday and every minute of everyday, my mind is full of thoughts, ideas, endless checklists, etc! I have my obsessive thoughts about "things" that need to be done, need to be prayed for, need to be worked out, etc! And, then, I obsess about these obsessions! I am a do-er. There is not enough time in the day to accomplish all I want/need to accomplish! LOL! These are just a few of my current obsessions (note: my actual list is mountainous) ................

Inspirational and educational quotes that really should be practiced- taken to heart- are ingrained in my soul (just as the WORD) and then I work on manifesting it! The message rings true (below). I am becoming more and more vigilant of how I spend my days! And I am more focused on teaching my sons the same! (Teaching my sons--TRUE obsession!)

Some of my obsessions are a bit more of "wants instead of needs". Thus, I haven't gotten my hands on the wrought iron outdoor furniture of my dreams, but I do have an assortment of vintage tablecloths. I enjoy dining outside (or just visiting at the table). I find surrounding myself and my loved ones, or guests, with things from a simpler time allows for a more relaxing environment. I just need the table and chairs, that's all.

It's just about universal to find creative and stylish uses for what once was considered "hoakie". I continue to be intrigued with barn doors used for interior decorative, but useful, purpose. I'm not giving up until I find a place in my own home to hang these beauties!

Wallpapers, or wall murals, continue to build on their popularity once again. For me, I have continued to have a secret love for them. Today there are so many uses and ways to decorate a room. Love wallpaper and murals!

Gosh, I, like soooo many, will always love pink! Again, so many ways to use pink! Endless ways! Everyday, I fight my urge to choose pink when given a choice of colors. My common sense side knows when to hold back, and when to "pink it up"!

Working in the yard, not only strengthens my work ethic and body strength, but it helps me sort out what is stressing me. I can work and pray. When the weather allows hours outside to be productive, then all I want to do is be productive outside. I love manicuring the lawn and the flower beds.

Just thinkin'.........I'll repeat......I love marketing! And....I love 'love'! I'm thinkin' Tiffany's has just swooned a million other hearts along with mine! Not so much that I am seduced to purchase, but that the focus is 'real love', and should be as timeless, or endless, as a Tiffany piece. I can agree with that, regardless of buying. It's a 'win win' situation. Tiffany's appeals to romantics and quality conscientious consumers to trust purchasing their products, while sharing real sentiments regarding 'forever love' with the entire world. Just thinkin'..........part of success is having a plan, knowing that at any minute the plan can be derailed, and, therefore, having a back-up plan. For example, 'a road trip': your travel path is mapped out, but, what do you do when you arrive at a point, in which there is construction, or disaster, and no way through? Yep, have an alternate route. Or, be a calm thinker, not an alarmist. The trip is so much more successful when you are prepared to be prepared. Always be prepared to know there may be change.
