Why White?

I love white
I love crisp white shirts.
I love classic white t-shirts.
I love white dresses. I love white houses.
I love white decor, and more.

According to Pantone Inc.,
is the best selling color
for the classic american t-shirt.

And,

More shades of white
are available commercially
than any other color.

White projects purity, cleanliness, and neutrality.
Doctors don white coats,
brides traditionally wear white gowns,
and a white picket fence surrounds a safe and happy home.

White affects us mentally and physically.
 * aids mental clarity
* encourages us to clear clutter or obstacles
* evokes purification of thoughts or actions
 * enables fresh beginnings (via here)

White is.......
...delicate
...calming
...fresh
...peaceful
...innocencent
...centered
...simple
...fastidious
...clarifying
...traditional
...clean
...classic
...dreamy
...relaxing

  1. I love white too! My husband always wears white tshirts, I think they look wonderful on him too :) White anything always brings a sense of peace to me. I love white lilies, they are my favourites. I think it can be under estimated by people who think colour is better or brighter. Just sometimes white can be hard to keep clean, but otherwise I love it!! xoxox

    1. Again, I share your sentiments on white. It's been called "no color", but it makes an enormous impact for not being considered a viable color. It's downfall is keeping it clean, but it's so worth it most times. xoxoxo

  2. Hi Shelly! I love this post! As a School Psychologist I'm interested in the psychology of just about everything, including color. Your images beautifully illustrate your perspective on the shades of white. I would love to share this with my readers or have you do a guest post sometime on Stylemindchic. As a newer blogger I'm not sure of the protocol but would love to share this bit
    of beauty. xo Heather

    1. Heather,I am so honored. But, I have to tell you, I've been blogging almost two years, and I have no idea of how to guest post. I do know how to share posts that I like. LOL! Again, I am so honored that you feel a connection and want to share a bit of my perspective. Thank you, Heather!

As for being a new blogger, you've got a great handle on it. If you hadn't described your position as a school psychologist, I would've had though you had a decorating service, or design firm.

And, I am in admiration of your position, as a psychologist. I, too, am always looking at the impact everything has on the mind and soul. I can't seem to walk away from it. xoxo

    2. Thank you Shelly. I can tell we share interest in the workings of the mind, the soul and style. Your blog is lovely. I just created a Stylemindchic Facebook page and will share this post. As for guest posting-I'll do some research. Would love to have your voice as a guest on my blog.
      Happy Memorial Day Shelly!

  3. And while of the subject of whites...How about this recipe for getting your whites, whiter...
Fill Tub/Basin/Bucket or sink with Hot water, mix in 1/4 cup of Baking Soda and the juice of 1 lemon...place your shirt or whatever it is your wanting white again, swish it around, let it soak for 30 minutes, rinse completely. In my case, it even took the stains out of the pits of the shirt and the ring around the collar...Happy white Shirt wearing!!!

    1. And, I'm ALL about keeping my white shirts white and armpit-stain free (hope that didn't sound un-ladylike). Thank you for this home remedy. I, for one, will try it.
Happy shirt "caring", as well, as "wearing"!
